Detroit Lions NFL Betting
The fact that during the 2007 NFL season, the Detroit Lions had their best record in ten years of 7-9 is pretty sad. And it seems even worse when you consider that Detroit is among the only 6 states to have never made a super bowl. Even hard core fans are hesitant to do any betting on the Detroit Lions. But this same fact can help you earn some cash, if you take advantage of the generous lines and odds some bookmakers will give this team.
The Lions have some good pass catchers with Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson and beyond their starters they have plenty of quality depth. It can be arguably said that the Lion's pass catchers are the whole team. And this leads to another problem, the offensive coordinator Jim Colletto, who tends to go for strategies involving running the football behind a big, physical offensive line. The problem being that the Detroit Lions don't have a strong running back or a good offensive line to run behind.
The defensive line of the Lions is not stopping anyone. Dewayne Whie, Jared DeVries and Cory Redding could be considered modest players at best. And while they have tried to address their issues, their 70% completion last year, worst in the league, says a lot. One of the most positive signs for anyone betting on the Lions is free agent acquisition Dwight Smith, who can make a good pair with Daniel Bullocks who is recovering from injury and should be back soon.
As far as schedule goes, the Lions do have 3 home games in November and December, but their final three weeks will be on the road. All and all, if you are planning on betting on the Detroit Lions, better make sure you get a good line and odds.
